Draft for legal review. Last updated: October 28, 2026. Replace the bracketed details before publishing, and have a qualified lawyer review these terms for every country where QuestWell is offered.
In short
- QuestWell is a self-care app for adults aged 18 and over. It is not a medical device or an emergency service.
- Your entries stay on your phone. You are in charge of them, and we cannot recover them for you.
- The free week and the lifetime unlock work through Google Play. There is no subscription.
- Your rights under local consumer law always apply, whatever these terms say.
Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you and MHQ Softech ("we", "us"), the maker of QuestWell. They cover the QuestWell app and this website. By installing or using QuestWell, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, please do not use QuestWell.
Who can use QuestWell
QuestWell is made for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it. Setup asks you to confirm this.
What QuestWell is, and what it is not
QuestWell offers short self-care exercises, mood check-ins, self-checks and a game that grows as you practice. The exercises draw on techniques from psychology research. They are general self-care tools, not personal advice about your health.
QuestWell is a self-care and skills app. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. It is not a substitute for professional care. Talk to a healthcare professional for medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you are in crisis, open the Lighthouse to reach a crisis line or emergency services where you are.
QuestWell is not an emergency service. If you are in danger, or might harm yourself or someone else, call your local emergency number now. The Lighthouse lists crisis lines, but we do not run them, monitor them, or know when you use them.
Self-checks in the app, such as the PHQ-9 and GAD-7, are self-checks only. A doctor or counselor can help you make sense of them.
Your entries
Everything you write and rate in QuestWell is stored on your phone, encrypted, and is never sent to us. This keeps it private, and it also means:
- We cannot see, restore or recover your entries. If you lose your phone, uninstall the app or delete everything, they are gone.
- Cloud backup is switched off for QuestWell. Use Settings > Export my data if you want your own copy.
- Keeping your phone secure, for example with a screen lock and the optional app lock, is up to you.
The free week and the lifetime unlock
- When you finish setup, every feature is open for 7 days at no cost. You do not need to enter any payment details.
- After the free week, quests, check-ins, Field Notes, Ladders and Season Review need the one-time lifetime unlock. The Lighthouse, Steady, your safety plan, the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding quest, export and delete stay free for everyone.
- The unlock is a one-time purchase through Google Play, at the price shown in Google Play. It never renews. Google Play's terms and payment policies apply to it.
- The unlock includes every future feature of QuestWell for as long as we offer the app.
- The unlock belongs to the Google account you bought it with. It restores when you reinstall QuestWell or move to a new phone with the same Google account.
- For refunds, see purchases and refunds.
Using QuestWell fairly
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use QuestWell on your own devices, for your own self-care. Please do not:
- use QuestWell in a way that breaks the law;
- copy, sell or republish the quests, artwork or other content as your own;
- try to get around the free week or the unlock, or interfere with how the app works.
The QuestWell name, logo, quests, artwork and other content belong to us or to the people who license them to us. Fonts and other open-source parts keep their own licenses, listed in Settings > Licenses.
Other services
QuestWell connects you with services we do not run: Google Play for purchases, Google Analytics for Firebase for anonymous usage counts, and your phone's dialer, messages app and browser for crisis lines. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for them.
Changes to QuestWell and to these terms
We may update QuestWell to improve it, fix problems or meet legal and store requirements. We will not take away a feature included in the lifetime unlock unless the law, Google Play or a safety reason requires it.
If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top and describe the change in the app's release notes. If a change matters for how you use QuestWell, we will tell you in the app first.
Our responsibility
We work hard to make QuestWell safe, private and reliable, but we cannot promise it will always be free of errors or available. To the extent the law allows, QuestWell is provided "as is", and we are not responsible for:
- decisions you make based on the app, including about your health;
- the loss of entries stored on your phone;
- services run by others, including crisis lines and Google Play.
Nothing in these terms limits responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Your consumer rights
If you use QuestWell as a consumer, the consumer protection laws where you live may give you rights that these terms cannot change. These terms never take those rights away.
Ending
You can stop using QuestWell at any time. To remove everything, use Settings > Delete everything or uninstall the app. We may stop offering QuestWell in the future. If we do, we will give notice in the app where we can, and the app will keep working on your phone with the features you have.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [country and state or province], except where the law of the country where you live gives you protections that cannot be set aside. Before any formal step, please contact us so we can try to resolve the problem together.
